D2 Technologies’ Embedded VoIP Software Adds Fixed Mobile Convergence Capabilities for Dual-mode Mobile Phones

D2’s vPort MP Product Enhanced with IMS-SIP/VCC for Seamless Mobility Between VoWiFi and Cellular Networks

SANTA BARBARA, CA — October 29, 2007 — D2 Technologies, the market leader in software platforms for IP communications, today announced a new embedded mobile convergence software solution to power the next generation of multi-mode mobile communications devices. The company’s flagship embedded VoIP product, vPort MP, is now enhanced with IMS-SIP/VCC and multi-service/multi-session capabilities to enable mobile handset OEMs to deliver Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) functionality.  With this upgrade, vPort MP provides a complete embedded software framework for designing and manufacturing advanced consumer and enterprise multi-mode mobile handsets such as dual-mode cellular plus Wi-Fi phones.  vPort MP is now being showcased at the Fall VON 2007 Conference, being held at the Boston (MA) Convention and Exhibition Center( Suite 105 ) through November 1.

“vPort MP is designed to power a new generation of mobile IP communications devices that provide the user with the ultimate telephony experience: the freedom to roam seamlessly between service platforms,” said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing and sales at D2 Technologies.  “It is the complete turnkey solution that OEMs and ODMs are seeking for advanced multi-mode mobile communication devices – one that enables them to get these handsets to market more quickly and economically.”

Manufacturers and service providers require a powerful and flexible mobile IP communications software platform to enable multi-service and multi-session communications across diverse networks.  vPort is designed to handle traditional SIP-based VoIP and the latest VoIM protocols including XMPP and other signaling protocols for messaging services such as GoogleTalk, Yahoo!, MSN Messenger and Gizmo.  The newly-enhanced vPort MP product now combines this Internet Service Interface (ISI) layer with support for concurrent sessions with the IMS-SIP Voice Call Continuity (VCC) protocol for seamless handoff between cellular and Wi-Fi networks.

D2’s vPort software products lead the market in embedded VoIP performance, efficiency and platform support, enabling networking, signaling and voice processing functions to execute as an integrated solution on a single processor, thereby driving down costs. In addition to Linux, vPort has been ported to a number of other OSsand RTOSs, and will be available on Windows® Mobile in the near future.
